Cat logic ≠ dog logic (design for both)
Cats scratch. It’s healthy, scent-marking behaviour—not “naughtiness.” Give them scratching posts and paths where they already patrol (near sofas, circulation routes) and they’re far less likely to “edit” your furniture.
